Lions, Tigers and Bears, Oh My! They have it all ,from monkeys and zebras, to other exotic fauna . Due to laws that protect you from eating cat and other things the world loves you cant try the hundreds of creatures that watch you eat.

 
However you can try alligator tail and  rattlesnake. If you are feeling up to it you can try Rocky mountain oysters. You might be wondering how they got the oysters from the Rockies (hmm must be a freshwater delicacy). Well, farmers get them from young cows testicles. That's disgusting you say?
Well its actually really good. I love 'em. They kind of have  a texture like fried calamari reminiscent of seafood, but tastes like a mammal.

Their steaks are  mediocre and their mashed potatoes are amazing, probably the best I have had.

Malt Shoppe

The malt shop is on university in Provo.

There are an unusual amount of diners and drive ins around here. I cant quite figure out why. Possibly it is the family friendly ambiance or maybe it is the affordable food that college students love whatever it is, there shakes are a lot better than anywhere else I have been. To highlight one place specifically, the Malt Shoppe, I have had wonderful pumpkin and eggnog shakes all year.

Something about having an eggnog shake on a hot summer day is not only nice but very nostalgic with the smell of nutmeg coming from your cup. When I went last night, I got my favorite, pumpkin pie. The pumpkin pie has pie crust while the pumpkin doesn't. Trust me, make it a pie.

I also had perfectly crispy fries. Dipping them in my shake combined salty and sweet, too flavors should always go together.

Restaurants open on sunday

This is a great place to go when you head up to the museum of natural history in Salt Lake. It is open on Sunday which is great because most restaurants open on Sunday in Utah  are bad chains. It gets a low score on Urbanspoon (a C) but the food was very good compared to all of the bad restaurants open on Sunday. I got a California Grille Panini. It was very flavorful. The artichokes were the most strong flavor. I was surprised because when I eat at restaurants like this, the food is flavorful. This was vibrant. Everything is also a decent size. It is also a good place to get coffee too.

Guru's

When you mix Utah and hummus, you get Guru's. Obviously it isn't your San Francisco vegetarian restaurant but if you want to hang with the long hair crowd, this is the place. Of course the ambiance is a bit off with the hip artsy, order at the counter vibe and football playing on the TV's but the food  is great and it is an excellent bargain although some say it is pricey. 

I ordered the sweet potato fries with a southwestern fry sauce. They were delightful. They were perfectly crispified on the outside. What came next was the hummus. Often when I order fresh hummus it tastes grainy; almost like sand. This tasted wonderful, especially for the price of just a couple dollars.

I also ordered the Thai peanut noodles which everyone else got. Mine needed more hot sauce than the others. It was less spicy than other times I have had it but nonetheless, very good.

I reccomend going for a quick lunch or bargain dinner under 15 -20 dollars.

Lucky 5 is a Chinese Buffet. I have actually never been to one before. I have been to a variety of lunch buffets such as Indian and of course Hu Hot, but for this one being my first it was pretty good. I had an excessive amount of Sweet and Sour sauce, and fried cream cheese items. The mushrooms were addictive. Try the fried pineapple. This is a good simple place to go to if you want a simple meal.

The ambiance isn't Wolfgang Puck and neither is the food.  It is a good simple place to get lunch with work friends on break or any other last minute gathering.

Hu Hot Mongolian BBQ

Hu Hot is a wonderful place. I have been here many times and I find it to be better than the other Mongolian BBQ places I have been to. Their selection is enormous and changes frequently. They have three kinds of noodles, seafood, meat and dozens of vegetables. Their sauces aren't just the oils you find at the typical Mongolian BBQ joint. They have Black Peanut and Green Curry and Szechuan and sweet and sour and even a mustard sauce.  One thing I have never seen before is recipe cards at the beginning telling you how to make "the Cajunator" and "Pad Thai".

If you haven't ever done Mongolian BBQ. It works like this: you everything you want in a bowl, and give it to the people and they will cook it for you Benihana-style. It is also better than Benihana's.

They also have desserts like cheesecake stuffed wontons and s'mores cooked over an open fire at the table.

It is a wonderful place to go. Keep in mind if you have had Mongolian BBQ before it will be a little more greasy than you are used to but still amazing.

Barrys Drive-In

I went to Barrys to get a snack and I was extremely surprised with their eggnog milkshake compared to their Provo counterpart: the maltshop. They also have good piping hot scones and I have been told they have good reubens but I cant say I have had them. I reccomend their scones over the family tree mainly because they aren't 3 feet long so the flavor doesnt grow old.
